By Thomas Morva Child aprons can serve many purposes. Daycare centers often use child aprons, often called smocks, to protect the children's clothing while painting or doing other art and craft projects. Parents certainly appreciate their usage. Can you imagine the ruined clothes the children would have if it were not for the use of child aprons? Little hands are likely to wipe paint on the most convenient surface and luckily for parents, child aprons are handy and accessible. Children also enjoy cooking. Their natural curiosity will lead them to create some very interesting entrees; child cookbooks have sprung up everywhere and more kids are cooking than ever before. Child aprons can make their kitchen learning experiences much cleaner. Instead of worrying about stained clothing, using a child apron will take the mess and leave the child much cleaner. Aprons, although not on the forefront of everyone's mind, are a necessary and very useful item. From their beginnings to the fad of humorous aprons designed for nearly everyone, aprons have come a long way. Child aprons are available in a variety of sizes, colors, fabrics and designs. Nearly every apron specialty store offers child-sized aprons. Children will love the colorful and cute aprons personalized just for them and will likely make them more interested in what goes on in the kitchen; what a perfect way to train a budding adult chef! Aprons Info provides detailed information about various types of aprons, including humorous, personalized, child, cooking, and lead aprons, as well as apron sinks, and more. Diets - Why Some Do Not Work
By David Pierce Many people get accustomed to seeing all the ways you can lose weight. Whether it be a television infomercial or something that you see in your local grocery store tabloid claiming you can loose twenty pounds in less than four weeks. For only a small investment of Fifty dollars a month, you will be the lean, mean, skinny version of yourself. These do not work many times, because they are not a natural way to loose weight. Even if you do loose weight, in the long term, you will gain much more weight back. Many people use fad diets to loose weight quickly, it is unsafe and not good for the body. People fail at these crazy, or fad diets, because they do not actually change their eating or exercise habits. If you are not willing to change your lifestyle, such as not eating before you go to bed, or just eating the regular three meals a day, then you will be destined to gain or sustain your current weight. All of the magic pills will not help you have the self control that only you can provide. Try to avoid all diets that recommend you consume certain nutrients to combat fat. Though it is true that a person should consume certain nutrients in order to maintain a healthy weight, you can do the same thing without pills or potions by simply eating a well balanced diet and cutting back on your food consumption. Sometimes our bodies tell us in subtle ways that we are consuming to much food. A good diet will teach you how to change your eating patterns and lifestyle. It will force you to realize that exercise, moderate at first, is the key. Along with decreased consumption, it is a perfect match to loose weight. Pills will only take the dieter so far. It is very important that they change their lifestyle and eating patterns. How about one less cookie, or perhaps no cookies at all? Not eating before bedtime and having a cut off time when you stop eating for the day would have a tremendous effect. Also, cutting back on sugar would help, do not drink the sugar laden soft drinks we all love to consume. Opt for the diet, caffeine free instead. These small steps could add up to big results. In the end, one needs to have enough will power to do what is best for their body. People also need to be aware of any health conditions before they start any dieting regimen. Many diets in a box, as some like to call them, actually strip you of fats that you may need to stay energetic. The diets oftentimes strip fat completely from the diet by giving you their offerings of fat free products. The problem arises when your body tries to preserve the fat that it already has stored. While it is doing this, you feel weak and fatigued. It requires a lot more time and effort to get energy from fat than from muscle. This is where exercise comes into play. While these diets will let you loose weight in the short run, you are not building fat and calorie burning muscle. Your metabolism will actually go up as you build muscle, causing you to loose weight. Any diet that you decide to try should provide enough vitamins and minerals through the food that you eat in order to stay healthy. It is best to ignore those that require expensive pills to do the same thing you can do. Also, consider one that has a healthy dose of exercise and other activities. One does not have to run a marathon once they first start the dieting process, but the small activities add up. Just walking to work if it is feasible, or taking the stairs or elevator can prove to have long lasting results to your health. David Pierce is owner of

Business Marketing Mistakes: 3 Marketing Mistakes Every Business Makes
By Terri Langhans Here are a few important marketing mistakes that just about every business manager out there makes, along with a recommended fix that will help you attract more business and get better results from your marketing, regardless of how big or small your marketing budget is. Mistake #1: We think that marketing is something we do. We need to do some marketing. Its the first thing you think when you need to boost business. Problem is, when you think of marketing as something you do, youre usually thinking about publicity, direct mail, flyers, email, ads and promotion. Marketing is much more than merely promotion, and its rarely a quick fix. The real fix is to expand your definition of marketing. Instead of thinking of it as something you do, think of marketing as anything that helps or hinders the sale or use of your product or service. This includes: your location, the attitudes of the person who answers the phone, your name, pricing, policies, proposals, personality and more. Before you write a promotional word, do a help or hinder once-over. Make a list of whats helping you attract business and whats getting in the way. Figure out what obstacles you can quickly fix or remove? What helps can you enhance or spotlight? Until the help-or-hinder homework is done, working on promotion is premature. Mistake #2: We breathe too much of our own exhaust. We are such big believers in our businesses that we cant wait to show it off. We admire our attributes and inhale our excellence. Then we exhale it all into our marketing communications. The problem is, when you do that, your marketing is all about you. And people dont care about you. They care about themselves. If your marketing is going to get any response at all, the first thing it must do is connect to something prospects care about. Connect before you convince. Try this four-step exercise:
Describe your products and services. Get the exhaust fumes out.
Identify one or two attributes or attraction factors
What is the benefit, the need or the want, that is satisfied by those attributes?
Why is that benefit important, personally, to the target audience? For example, Joy dish washing liquid (description) has real lemon (attribute) that cuts grease and leaves dishes shinier (benefit). What a nice reflection on you! (Connects to what she cares about.) Connect to what people want. Not to what you do. Mistake #3: We all look alike. A bank is a bank is a bank. Realtors, lawyers and consultants are a dime a dozen. The list goes on. But heres the good news: the more two businesses look alike, the more important each difference becomes, and the more impact even the tiniest difference will have on setting you apart. Why? Consider identical twins. Whats the first thing you do when you meet a pair? You try to find a little something to tell them apart. The same is true for your business. Your prospects are looking for a point of differencejust about anythingthey can use to set you apart from your competition. To find your points of difference, start with your points of contact, or touch points in your company. Make a list. Business card, fax cover sheet, invoice, phone greeting, front door, home page, etc. Then look at what the competition does and ask yourself how you can do it differently. Just a little bit will make a big difference, because your prospects are looking for them. For now, try the Help or Hinder, Connect Before You Convince and Find Your Points of Difference tools to make your marketing more meaningful and effective. Be wary, too, of unrealistic expectations, faulty research, deadly bullet points and lack of follow through-- four other common marketing mistakes. Job Interview Basics -- Best Preparation
By Mark Baber Thought I'd take a moment or two to review another important
pre-interview consideration that could make or break the
results of your job interview. I'm speaking of Job Interview Preparation. What's that? Most of us think that when it comes
to a job interview, we gather up our resume and references,
don our attractive clothing, put on our game face and assume
we can present our own skills and know-how to the interviewer
or interviewers. After all, they are our skills and know-how,
if we can't present them better than anyone else -- who can?
Right? Suprisingly enough, you'd be WRONG if you believed that. Having been involved in literally 1000's of interviews over the
course of my career, I can promise you that most Applicants
cannot logically present their skills and accomplishments, let alone do it in a manner that moves the interview along to a positive conclusion. Oh sure, they can offer up a nice list of things to talk about, things they can do in their respective work environments, and make it sound good too. But for the most part, too often, they neglect the important news... like what you are going to do specifically for the employer with which you are interviewing now. Employers then have to cull through your materials, including what you have to say about yourself in the job interview, and your resume and your application, and the results from any required job assessments, and they have to patch together a pattern of know-how, job experience and goals that will hopefully fit the needs for which they are interviewing. So in preparing for a job interview, you should strive to
organize how you will present your credentials and achievments
and skills so it proceeds logically and fulfills the
requirements of the job -- not just so you can rattle on
about what you know and what you've done and what you
hope to do. My best advice is to make a list of your skills, as they
relate to the specific job you are interviewing for. List
each of your areas of endeavor, your duties, you tasks. For instance, if you are a retail manager interviewing for a job in that industry, your list would include regular tasks like "customer service," and "Vendor management," and "cash control," and "staff training," and "store safety," and a dozen other daily, weekly or monthly duties. A corporate buyer may
have on their list: "price book management," "bid processing,"
"vendor price negotiations," or "delivery logistics management,"
and more. Each vocation has its own unique set of duties
to list. Why list those duties? Because you are going to write
an example for each of those duties to illustrate by
example your mastery over the task in question. The
examples you choose will be real-life examples whereby
you solve problems within a range of tasks.
For instance, the retail manager enters on their duties list
the task of "cash control." Then describes how they
solved a problem of cash shortage on the evening shift
by reassigning who worked which cash register, and by
taking register readings multiple times during a shift
and reviewing results with each employee, thereby identifing
the cause of the shortage and thusly saving the
store from suffering a significant loss.
That illustrates to the prospective Employer, in a job interview, that you not only perform that duty, but you have
real-life effective strategies to solve problems
relating to that specific task. And you must address each of your key duties or tasks, because you don't which tasks will be the most important to be discussed when you are at the interview. So you must be prepped on each. That is a much more
effective way to present your skills in an interview. Match Business Card Design with Image of Your Business
By Natalie Aranda Business cards are often the first impression a potential customer has of your business. It can also be the impression they return to time after time as a business card is something that is meant to be held on to. Many people try to save time and money by going with a standard business card, but this can often be a mistake. Business owners should take the time to customize their business cards so that they match the image of the business. It might take some time to determine what the image of your business should be. In some instances, you might create several business cards that portray your business in slightly different terms. If your company works with a wide range of clients, this might be effective. Some businesses need to portray a certain image. Those involved in financial matters should have a professional business card design that will inspire trust. If your business specializes in artistic or creative pursuits, a business card should reflect this. When designing your business card, it is usually best to come up with a few different samples to determine which one you like the best. Some business card companies will send you samples of their cards so that you can get a feel for the texture and weight of various card stocks. There are many companies who specialize in business card printing, although you can also make your own business cards. Remember to purchase the best business cards that your budget can accommodate as it is truly an important part of your advertising. The addition of color can also influence the image that your business card sends to customers. For highly traditional businesses, color should be used sparingly. Dark blues and maroons are usually the best choices. For companies that have a more contemporary or relaxed image, color can be a great way to make a business card stand out. It can also be used to highlight certain information that you wish to draw attention to. For those involved in businesses which cater to children, the use of bright, primary colors can help portray your business in a kid-friendly way. The image that your business card portrays about your company is important. It can show that you are serious and that you can be trusted with the financial resources of others. It can show that you are highly creative and can design beautiful weddings. A business card can show many things, and should never be taken lightly. Spend some time making sure that your business cards reflect the image of your company. Natalie Aranda writes about business. Business cards are often the first impression a potential customer has of your business. Real Nobility And God's Love
By Laurent Grenier Real nobility feeds on its own intrinsic value, as a rightful cause that ought to be served with diligence. Whether it will be rewarded, here below or in the beyond, is a question really noble individuals consider irrelevant, though they are not insensitive to the idea of reward. Their purpose is to live bravely, wisely, fairly, and kindly for the sake of worthiness. Tribute, wealth, and heaven are dispensable pleasures that may or may not crown the delight they take in this purpose. Likewise, whether a lack of nobility on their part would be punished, here below or in the beyond, is a question they consider irrelevant, though they are not insensitive to the idea of punishment. They are noble unconditionally, even in situations of unrestricted liberty, when they could behave ignobly with impunity and do not believe in hell. Unbraveness, unwiseness, unfairness, and unkindness are negative options that offend their sense of right. Accordingly, they shun them. By right I mean what is true to life and the pursuit of health and happiness, true to solidarity and the ability to sympathize with others and assist them, and ultimately true to God*. Here God is regarded as the universal principle, and particularly as the principle of life. Its essence can be described as love for the good reason that it gives every life form including the human species the opportunity to live and the capacity to develop and flourish. This gift is assuredly a sublime proof of love. What about suffering and death? In my opinion, they do not indicate a lack of divine love but a limit to the divine power behind this love or a failure of the beings vested in this power to use it successfully. Therefore, God should be thanked for its love and forgiven for the limit to its power, just as loving parents are forgiven for their shortcomings. In addition, humans should always aim to make the most of the divine power vested in them. True braveness, wiseness, fairness, and kindness, which constitute real nobility, are the measure of excellence. * God, in the Genesis, is first and foremost the creative and ruling force of the universe. As such, it is unspecific and uncontroversial. People of different philosophical or religious persuasions recognize with one accord that the universe is as it is because it has the power to be so. This power can be called God, in the unspecific sense of the word. It provides a legitimate answer to the ultimate question, which is twofold: Why is there a universe instead of nothing, on the one hand, and why is there order in it instead of chaos, on the other hand? Essentially, it is a cause that accounts for the existence and the nature of everything, while its presence remains totally unaccountable. There is no point in trying to elucidate this mystery since, to this end, one would need to postulate another cause that would itself be unaccountable, and so on ad infinitum. Consequently, the cause that gives the universe the power to exist and evolve, according to laws, is best described as a prime and timeless cause that can be ascertained through its manifestation in the form of changing things and beings, but never explained. Laurent Greniers writing career spans over twenty years. During this time he has broadened and deepened his worldview, by dint of much reflection and study, and in the end has crafted A Reason for Living, his best work to date. The Worst Hair Styles For 2006
By Lance Winslow Everyone talks about the best hairstyles of 2005 and what will be trendy in 2006, yet what they really want to know is which hair styles not to be caught dead with. If we all wear the same style of hair, then we end up looking too trendy and a copycat. Most of us are aware of this and therefore do not necessarily go for the Paris Hilton Hair Cut or the Brad Pitt theme. What we need is a hybrid of sorts, something that will not offend, but will be classy and somewhat unique to help bring out our finer points, individuality and strengths in our personalities. Some of what may have been considered the most obnoxious and obscene haircuts of the past will be very trendy in 2006. Haircuts like the shock jock Howard Sterns, with is light socket hairdo and matted look. The Japanese video cartoon character hairdos you would have never thought of wearing, yet in 2006 we will gals wearing this hair style with pride. The hair styles which will end your date quickest for men, will be the parted in the middle flared and layered styles which were popular previously, so much for that online dating service hook-up, Next! For women do not be surprised if men would rather see no hair on your entire body than the 2004 and 2005 Oprah haircut, as she will never be able to run for President with that do. For those women with patrician looks you actually can get away with extremely short hair in 2006 or even bald and you will be a trend setter, as bald is in 2006 for men and women. Think on this in 2006. "Lance Winslow" - Online Think Tank forum board. How To Naturally Turn Your Slow Metabolism Into a Fast Fat Burning Machine
By Vernita Sherman When Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other holidays come around where I eat more than usual, I never feel guilty about how much I had eaten. The reason is because Ive learned how to train my metabolism to burn enough body fat to allow me to have more cheat days. Im not saying to eat anything and everything once you increase your metabolism (this is unhealthy), but what I am saying is that once your body is use to being in the fat burning mode, the guilt of eating fattening foods on holidays is not there (at least not for me). Whenever I feel that my metabolism is slowing down, I dont worry at all because I know exactly what to do to get my metabolism back on its fat burning track. Once you understand how powerful your metabolism is when you feed it energy (continuous small meals throughout the day along with exercise) and how powerful it is to burn fat, you will experience guilt free cheat days too. Increase metabolism for easy weight loss and fat burning Metabolism = the amount of calories our bodies burn per day. To permanently lose body fat weight, you must increase your metabolism. In order to increase your metabolism, you must do weight training exercises to condition your muscles and feed your metabolism by eating regularly throughout the day. A slow metabolism results in less fat loss When we lose weight, we also lose protein from our muscles. The faster we lose weight (by cutting down too much on our calorie intake), the more protein is used for energy; and when you lose too much protein from your muscles the result is a slow metabolism. This happens because your muscles need protein to grow and stay strong. When protein is taken from your muscles, you lose muscle tissue. Muscle tissues are metabolically active and burn calories (even at rest). Your body needs calories to feed these metabolically active tissues so that it has energy to continue to burn calories. The calories that are burned also come from the fat that is stored in your body. So in other words, the more calories you eat, the more energy your metabolism has to burn the fat that is stored in your body. Without the calorie intake, your metabolism has no energy therefore it will slow down and you will burn fat at a very slow rate (if you burn any at all). Having energy is not the only reason for a fast or slow metabolism. You see, when you significantly cut down on your daily calorie intake, your metabolism burns calories slower to prevent your body from starving. Being that your body now doesnt know when you will feed it; your body will store the calories to be used later. The calories that are stored, are stored as fat. Increase your metabolism and lose more body fat weight than water weight When you lose protein from your muscles, you not only lose muscle tissue, but you will also lose water. Protein holds about 4 times its weight in water. To lose 10 pounds of body fat, you would need to burn 35,000 calories (3500 calories = 1 pound). If you lose those 10 pounds in one week do you honestly believe that it was body fat? The answer is no, only about 2 pounds was fat and the rest was water (Do not be fooled by what the scale says!) When you increase your metabolism, your body has a reason to hold onto the protein (remember protein holds water) and use the energy to burn fat. Yes you will lose some protein from your muscles even if you lose weight the right way. The key is to provide your muscles with enough protein each day so that it can not only replace your protein loss, but use the extra protein to help build new muscle tissue and stay conditioned. Eat more food to increase your metabolism Protein helps build muscle, but carbohydrates are your bodys main source of energy. When your body has a deficiency of energy (carbohydrates) and takes the protein from your muscles as energy, the protein is converted to carbohydrates before its used as an energy source. Therefore, when you eat, you must have the right amount of carbohydrates and proteins in your body so that energy can be used efficiently. You must also eat more frequently to fuel your metabolism all day long. Eating at least 5-6 small meals each day will give your metabolism the continuous supply of energy it needs to burn fat longer and faster. If you are short on time and not able to cook, do not resort to eating junk food as one of your meals; instead opt for a good meal replacement product to satisfy your body. Exercise to increase your metabolism Exercise in general burns calories. Weight training will help you to increase your metabolism because that is how you condition your metabolically active muscles. Whenever you increase your physical activity, especially through exercise, you must increase the amount of calories you consume each day. Remember, the more energy (calories) you give your muscles, the more energy it has to burn fat that is stored in your body. Also remember the less energy you give you body, the more protein will be taken from your muscles to be converted to carbohydrates as energy, which leads to a slow metabolism. Cut the Wedding Budget Fat: Trim Your Guest List
By Amy Spade After youve gotten a basic idea for how you want your wedding to go, you then have to make the guest list. Youll be including family members, friends, relatives, work acquaintances, and many others. The problem is that you cant keep everyone on that list, even if you have an unlimited budget. Why you should keep the number low Of course, a lot of couples may protest and say that they more people come, the more gifts well receive. And while thats true, lets talk about what a wedding really is first. A wedding is a celebration of a couples marriage. And those that come to the wedding should be very happy to celebrate it, rather than just coming for the food or drink. You want people there that have made a difference in your life. Of course, if you havent been close with your family, well, youre stuck inviting them. You want to invite people whose names you know and can repeat. This is not the time to invite everyone that youve ever met. Invite the important people. If youre nervous about omitting someone, then stop to think about how much youd like to talk to them. If its not that much, then you probably can leave them off. How to trim names When youve finally gotten your list together, you should exchange it with your soon-to-be spouse. Let them look at it and start to omit names. Again, family members are not allowed to be scratched off unless theres a special situation. And even if there is a family feud of some sort, they wont come anyways. In terms of friends, you will want to be selective here. Figure out who you really care about, and who you just feel like you should invite. How long has it been since youve talked to them? If its been a long time, you can probably cross them off. For the work people, you can invite whomever you have a close relationship with. This means that you dont have to invite your boss, but its always nice to out of courtesy. Dont feel that you should. Making your invitation list shouldnt feel like a burden. At the end of the day, you want to look at your list and see all the people that you care about and want to share this happy day with. And its your day and your time, so dont let anyone else talk you into inviting people that youre not too keen on.
