6 Steps to Re-inventing Your Career

Finding it in a safe, smart way requires these six steps: 1. Soul Searching. Your journey begins with some intriguing self-examination. This step goes beyond looking at your work experience and skills. You also consider your values, interests, and personality preferences. This can be done informally through the use of specially-designed exercises or it can be done formally through professional assessment testing. Taken all together, the soul-search phase allows you to come up with a comprehensive personal profile that will help you develop future work possibilities. 2. Identifying Options. The key word here is optionsnot answers. In this step, you use your profiling clues from Step 1 to brain- and heart-storm as many possibilities for future work as possible. This is one of the most creative parts of the change process and best done with one or more friends or colleagues who have a broad view of the business marketplace. At about this point, its important to begin to create a compelling future vision for your work and life. The act of creating your vision is inspiring, and it can actually help to pull your career change journey forward. 3. Testing. Testing has three purposes. The obvious one is to avoid making a big mistake by jumping to a solution too fast. The not-so-obvious purposes are to network more deeply into an area that you think you might like to make a career of, and to learn as much as you can about it from an inside perspective rather than from afar. It is experimentation with a purpose while you keep an open mind and heart. 4. Crafting Your Transition Plan. Out of your testing comes a clear path where you can set a specific new career goal and create the strategy and steps that will get you there. Your goal may be radically different work, the same work in a different environment or starting a new business or some combination of these three. 5. Implementation. During the Implementation phase which can begin even before you leave your current employer -- you begin to put pieces of your transition plan into action. You may begin a course of study, reduce your expenses, if warranted, and/or even make physical preparations such as relocation or building a home office. Of course, to minimize your personal and financial risk, you want to do as much as possible while you are still working. 6. Integration. Seekers often think that once the shift is
made, their career transition is complete. I think its more accurate to call it the beginning of the end. A physical transition into new work is one thing but transitioning your underneath layers (like work patterns, assumptions) is another thing entirely. Which Glue To Use For The Job

By Shellie Wilson In any sticky situation, the key to success is to choose the right adhesive for the job in hand. CLEAR HOUSEHOLD Also known as general-purpose adhesive, it has a transparent appearance when dry. Suitable for situation where A particularly strong bond is not required. Where to use: On soft flexible plastics canvas, some metals, card, cork, leather, hardboard, fabric, and cloth. How to Apply: Where surfaces are absorbent spread the glue onto one surface and press both surfaces together firmly. Otherwise spread a think film on both surfaces leave for a brief moment and then press the two items together for several minutes. How to Remove: While still wet use a damp cloth to remove access then use acetone or nail polish remover to rub away at the adhesive. The Good and The Bad: Can not be used on polythene, polypropylene or polystyrene as it eats into the surface, it is not suitable for repairing pottery and similar heavy items as the glue is not strong enough. be careful around varnished surfaces as this glue can lift the varnish off a surface and damage it. LATEX A rubber-based adhesive in white and clear formulations. It produces a flexible bond. Where to use: Ideal for repairs on fabric, upholstery, rubber, paper wood, and toys. How to Apply: If the materials are lightweight or delicate avoid adhesive penetration by applying a thin coat to each surface letting it sit till the glue becomes semi-transparent and then pushing the two surfaces together. For other materials apply a light coat to one surface and push together and secure for several minutes. How to Remove: Comes off easily with a damp cloth when the glue is still wet, when dry pick off the access glue and scrape with a sharp knife for fabrics you will need a solvent cleaner. The Good and The Bad: A useful adhesive to have on hand for small touch ups, this latex glue also comes in a non toxic variety for childrens use. EPOXY RESIN A two-part, quick-setting epoxy resin base plus hardener, that needs to be mixed before use. It dries clear and is heat-proof. Where to use: On china, pottery, glass and jewelry repairs it is also suitable for wood, metal and leather it has a very strong durable bond once set. How to apply: Following the directions on your epoxy resin mix the epoxy and hardener together ensuring that your surface is clean. Apply a thin layer onto one surface and squeeze the two surfaces together. secure until it sets. How to Remove: If you get it on your skin then use a industrial hand cleaner, remove excess glue from surfaces with a cloth dampened with white spirit. Once set you will need to chip away at the glue as it is solid once dry. CONTACT A petroleum-based adhesive, which is extremely inflammable. Applied to both surfaces, it bonds on contact. Where to use: On a variety of surfaces such as laminate, wood, rubber, stone, leather, it is heat and water proof. How to Apply: Coat both surfaces with the adhesive and allow to become tacky then press the two surfaces together. How to remove: It is difficult to remove once it is dry so wipe off any excess as you go with a damp cloth, you can use a acetone to wipe the residue down and large amounts would need to be chipped away first. The Good and the Bad: You need to work quickly and it is not suitable for plastic pr polythene items as it can wrinkle the surface. PVA (polyvinyl acetate) A white creamy adhesive that is water soluble and provides a permanent bond which can be stronger than material itself. Where to use: Use for general indoor woodwork repairs, plus hardboard, polyurethane, foam, paper, fabric, leather, and carpets. Can also be watered down to make papermache glue or used as a protective coat on indoor artwork. How to Apply: Squeeze a thin layer onto one surface and press together straight away. Clamp or secure for at least one hour to allow setting. How to Remove: While it is still wet remove with a damp cloth, once set use mentholated spirits. The Good and The Bad: Not suitable for water contact, you will need a waterproof PVA for those jobs. SUPERGLUE Originally used by the air force industry these adhesive needs only a tiny spot to produce extremely strong bond onto almost any surface including your skin. Where to use: For use where you need a Instant bond, metals, plastics,glass,ceramics, rubber. How to Apply: One tiny drop onto one surface and push both surfaces together straight away. Always where rubber gloves How to Remove: If you get skin contact immediately soak in warm soapy water, if available use a solvent cleaner and try to separate skin gently. The Good and The Bad: Though it is an effective adhesive it can be quite expensive for large projects, it is highly dangerous and should be kept safe at all times. As this is a thin liquid it is not useful in filling Gaps which may be required to fill broken pottery etc to even out the edges. ACID FREE GLUE This is an archive glue that can either go on white or clear. This glue contains no harmful acid it is suitable for paper, card and some plastics. Where to use: Use for archival documents, Scrapbooking and photos. How to Apply: Apply a thin layer of glue to one surface and press the surfaces together, you can also apply small dots into the corners of a photo for easy application. It comes in many different forms, such as squeezy bottles, roll ons and droplet. How to Remove: When wet use a damp cloth to wipe away excess, once dried gently separate the items being careful not to tear the papers. The Good and The bad: This glue is easy to apply and purpose built for Scrapbooking, there is no substitute when it comes to archiving your memories. First a quick biology lesson: Your nails grow from the area under your cuticle called the matrix. The matrix is the living part of the nail. Your cuticle is the layer of skin that protects the matrix so the cuticle is very important for nail health and growth. As new nail cells grow in the matrix, older nail cells are pushed out toward your fingertips and become hard and compacted. Heredity and health determine how fast nails grow but nails typically grow about 0.1 millimeter a day, which means that it takes a fingernail about four to six months to fully regenerate. Healthy nails are smooth, without ridges or grooves. They're uniform in colour and consistency and free of spots or discoloration. Did you know: Nails grow faster in the summer than in the winter, nails on your dominant hand grow faster, and men's nails grow more quickly than women's, except when a woman is pregnant when nail growth speeds up. How long should my nails be ? This is obviously very much a matter of personal choice but a couple of things to bear in mind: The optimum practical length for your nails depends on your activities and your lifestyle. In general the nail tip should extend no further than one third of the body of the nail. Nails break less often when they are all of equal length and shaped square, oval, or round. Tips on growing, long and healthy natural nails: Long nails tip 1: Don't use your nails as tools. Rather than using your nails use other parts of your hand, or a pen, to perform tasks like dialing the phone. Detergents are particularly harsh on your nails and can cause splitting and peeling. Wear gloves when washing dishes or cleaning. If your cuticle has grown out on to the nail plate, after sufficiently softening your cuticles in warm water, very gently use a cuticle pusher to push your cuticles back. As well as pushing your cuticles back this will help to remove dead skin and debris that may have accumulated. Hold the cuticle pusher at an angle, and use tiny circular movements, so that you are as gentle and careful as possible and do not damage the cuticle. When you have finished doesn't forget to moisturize your hands. Long nails tip 5: Look after your nails. Trim fingernails and clean under the nails regularly. Use manicure scissors or clippers and a nail file to smooth nail edges. Never pull off hangnails - doing so almost always results in ripping living tissue. Clip hangnails off, leaving a slight angle outward. Long nails tip 6: Caring for brittle nails. Trim brittle nails after a bath, or a 15 minute hand soak in bath oil, and then apply a moisturiser. Don't use nail polish remover more than twice a month. Instead, touch up the nail polish. When you do need to use a nail polish remover avoid those that use acetone, which dries out nails. Also consider using a nail strengthener and growth formula. Long nails tip 7: The role of diet. Unless your diet is deficient in protein and vitamins dietary changes that supposedly strengthen nails won't work. Your nails can however offer telltale signs of dietary problems such as:
Lack of vitamin A and calcium causing dryness and brittleness.

White bands across the nails caused by protein deficiency.

If you are concerned that your diet may not be balanced and healthy you should consult a medical or nutritional professional. Long nails tip 8: Moisturise your nails. Nails need moisture just like your hands do. Rub lotion into your nails when moisturising your hands. Be sure to apply moisturiser each time you wash your hands Long nails tip 9: Use coloured nail polish. Use coloured nail polish while you are growing your nails. If you prefer a softer look, try a sheer shade. Coloured nail polish helps you become more aware of your hands and how to use them in a way that keeps your nail polish undamaged and hence your nails protected. Natural Health and Beauty - Using Essential Oils for Healing Your Skin

By Misty Rae Cech, ND Trends in health and beauty are placing more trust in the efficacy of natural and organic ingredients. Skin care is no exception, with more women coming to realize the purity of what they put on their skin is as important as that of what they eat. The skin is the largest organ, and is generally permeable to substances placed on it. This is particularly important in healing wounds, for the skin may be broken and more sensitive. Enter essential oils; these powerful plant derived medicines have been used for many years for treating skin conditions, enhancing beauty and promoting wellness. Oils have been found particularly useful for regenerating skin that has suffered from accidents or surgery, or has their remaining signs in the form of keloid, acne, or other scars. Certain essential oil blends can speed healing time, reduce or eliminate scars from recent wounds and even greatly diminish the appearance of old ones. There are a few primary essential oils used in skin care which offer their regenerative properties; these oils can be used in low concentrations, and are generally well-tolerated - certainly more so than many synthetic ingredients. The most important of these may be Helichrysum italicum, also known as Everlasting oil. This wonderful oil is distilled from the daisy-like flowers of the herb. It has a lovely earthy aroma and, despite it's apparent expense, works in very low concentrations (only a few drops per tablespoon of your total blend). Helichrysum is strongly anti-inflammatory and contains powerful regenerative molecules unique to this oil only. Helichrysum is the foundation of many blends for healing the skin, and can be used by itself in a synergistic carrier oil such as Rosehip seed. This combination may be all that is needed to speed the healing of recent wounds - though often a little Lavender oil is added as well. Kurt Schnaubelt, one of America's leading aromatherapists notes in his quintessential guide "Advanced Aromatherapy" that Helichrysum essential oil and Rosehip seed can "heal wounds with minimal or no scarring". As mentioned above, Lavender is often included in skin care blends - it has gentle anti-inflammatory and tissue regenerative properties, along with very soothing, anti-anxiety aroma. Lavender essential oil itself began the modern aromatherapy revolution when a scientist burned his hand in a laboratory accident, and after cooling the wound in a beaker of Lavender found the wound to heal remarkably quickly. It is also thought to 'synergize' or improve the efficacy of other essential oils in combination. The essential oil distilled from common Sage leaves is also used in the healing of scars, particularly old or unsightly scars. It's natural regenerative properties and ability to promote circulation aid in gently breaking down the tough skin resulting from wound healing. Sage oil should only be used in these instances and in small quantities, as it's Thujone content can be toxic in high quantities. If used in a recipe for stretch marks (see below), it should only be used post-partum. Despite it's powerful components, however, when diluted and used with respect, one can use this oil safely. Rosemary will be the final essential oil we'll mention here for scar treatment. For the skin, Rosemary of the Verbenone chemotype has many important properties - it contains regenerative ketone molecules, and stimulates cellular metabolism. This oil helps new skin form, bringing nutrients into the cells and supports the removing toxins and wastes. The essential oils mentioned here must be diluted in a carrier oil for daily application. In aromatherapy, more is not better! There have been numerous studies showing the great efficacy of essential oils in low concentrations based in seed or nut carrier oils. The two most commonly used base oils for skin care are Rosehip seed and Hazelnut oils. Rosehip seed has many documented uses in skin care, with it's triple-unsaturated fatty acids and it's vitamin A compounds. Planning Wine for Your Party

By Michael Briggs Planning a Party with Wine. Entertaining can be a stressful event, but one way to ensure a good for everyone including yourself is to plan ahead. By taking care of as many details in advance, you will have time to enjoy your company and take care of the few unexpected things that arise. One area that is especially easy to plan in advance is buying and serving wine. What to buy. What types and varieties of wine you purchase and offer will depend on what type of event you are hosting. If you are having a stand-up party with mostly appetizers and finger foods then you will want to offer both red and white wines. For white wine consider having two options, first a good Chardonnay with ample oak tones that stand up to the many different foods that will be offered. A second good white wine choice is a lighter and drier Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. For red wines, avoid anything too big and bold. Instead a lighter Zinfandel, Merlot, or Pinot Noir are all great choices. If you are serving a formal sit down dinner, you may wish consider having both a red and white wines on hand. But you should also consider the food you are serving and match your wine selections accordingly. If you are serving a multi-course dinner event, don't be afraid to offer different wines with each course. Encourage guests to pour just a half glass of each wine if you will be serving different wines in order to avoid over indulgence. Many times if your focus is solely on which white and red wines to purchase and another great option is overlooked, Champagne. Sparkling wines accompany many dishes well, and are especially good to sip alone over good conversation. Be sure to keep it well chilled, and don't open too many bottles in advance or else they will go flat before getting to the glass. How much to buy. If you will be serving primarily wine, or you know your guests will be drinking mostly wine by choice, you will want to plan on one bottle for every 3 or 4 guests. If there will be beer and spirits, reduce your wine cache to about one bottle for every 4 or 5 guests. For dinner parties, you will want to make sure every guest can have a glass of each wine served with each course. A bottle pours about 5 glasses of wine, so plan on a bottle for 5 guests. An extra bottle of the main course and desert wine is always a good idea. How to serve. First, get the wine to the correct temperature well in advance of the party. Set out all of the glasses where guests can easily access them, in close proximity to the wine. Don't open it all right away, and don't set the chilled white and sparkling wine out at once. Just before guests are to arrive, open enough wine to fill glasses of the initial arrivals. After everyone has poured their first glass, you can then open more to replenish based on the rate it is being consumed. Keep sparkling wine chilled in an ice water bath, but white and reds will be fine sitting out at room temperature for 30-45 minutes. It would be wise to better inform yourself on the use of that treatment and your next session at the tanning studio if your suffer from psoriasis. A group of people who have been careful about their bodies and their tans are the bodybuilders. They know how important tanning is to their looks and how it can really show the cuts and muscularity when exposed under bright spot lights. Facts On Tithing

The English word "tithe" as well as its Hebrew-Greek equivalents "ma`aser" and "apodekatoo" means a tenth. Many Christian churches preach tithing as a means of supporting the work of the Lord today. There are many variations of this theme. Some pay the local church one tenth of their income after taxes and bills are paid; some pay before. Others demand tithing on unemployment, inheritance, gifts, tax refunds, social security and even gambling winnings. The tithing issue has caused a great deal of strife and division in our churches over the years. The most well known passage on tithing comes from the Old Testament book of Malachi 3:7-10. This Scripture has given rise to the practice of "Storehouse Tithing." Simply stated, the congregation is exhorted from the pulpit to channel all of their Christian giving through the local church (storehouse). If they wish to give to a Christian organization, radio or television broadcast, etc., it must go through their denominational machinery in order for the local church to get "credit." Also the pastor and elders often must make the determination if the cause supported by the giver is "worthy." This use of the Malachi passage is a good example of Scripture being taken out of its historical and dispensational context. "This whole nation" in verse 9 is the backslidden nation of Israel, NOT the present day church (Malachi 1:1; 3:6). They were under the law of Moses as a system of conditional blessing. Believers today are not under the law but under grace (Romans 6:14). As such we have already been blessed by God with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3) and are under a system of unconditional blessing with grace on the throne (Romans 5:21). This should put an end to the common charge that believers who don't tithe are "robbing God" and will be "cursed with a curse." The storehouse mentioned in verse 10 is not a local church but a storage bin or silo in the Jewish temple where the grain from the Hebrew's tithes was stored (2 Chronicles 31:4-12). Under the law only agricultural products were tithed. They included grain, fruit, and livestock. Only products produced within the boundaries of the land of Israel were to be tithed. Jews living in Gentile lands were exempt (Leviticus 27:30-34). Others exempt from the tithing law included the hired hands, fishermen, miners, lumber workers, construction workers, soldiers, weavers, potters, manufacturers, merchants, government workers, and priests. In short, all who were not farmers were exempt. A farmer with only 9 cattle did not tithe because the law specified the "tenth which passeth under the rod." Likewise a farmer with 19 sheep paid only 1 sheep to the Lord's tithe. The Jewish farmers in the land could redeem (buy back) the tithes of their crops with a penalty of one fifth. In other words, if a farmer wishes to keep his tithe of grain worth $1,000, he could pay the cash equivalent of $1,200 (Leviticus 27:31). Livestock could not be brought back nor could the farmer exchange a good animal for a bad one or vice versa. Any attempt to substitute any other animal other than the tenth which passed under the rod would be penalized by the farmer forfeiting both the tenth and its substitute (Leviticus 27:33). God ordained the Levites to be the ones to whom the tithe was paid (Numbers 18:21). They were one of the 12 tribes of Israel to whom no inheritance was given in the land. The Lord Himself and the tithes of the children of Israel was their inheritance. It was used for the service of the tabernacle (later the temple) (Numbers 18:20-28). It was unlawful for anyone outside of the tribe of Levi to receive the tithe, such as prophets, preachers, kings or evangelists. The Levites paid one tenth of their tithes to the high priest. Not all Levites were priests but only the sons of Aaron. The priests did not tithe. The Lord Jesus Christ did not ask for or receive a tithe for support of His ministry. Being of the tribe of Judah (not Levi) He could not without breaking the law (Hebrews 7:14; Revelation 5:5). Neither Peter (not of the tribe of Levi) nor Paul (of the tribe of Benjamin) could receive tithes for the support of their ministries. Even the Jews do not practice tithing today because there are no Levites, priests, or temple worship in Jerusalem. Jewish rabbis know biblical law well enough to know that tithing under the present circumstances is unlawful. According to them, when the temple is rebuilt in Jerusalem with a consecrated altar with priests and Levites officiating, all Jews living within the biblical tithing zones will tithe. Some Christian ministries today continue to support tithing, using the argument that it predates Moses and the law. But this reasoning is not valid, for the Sabbath also predates the giving of the law (Exodus 16:23-29) and yet it is not binding on God's people today (Romans 14:5,6; Galatians 4:9,10; Colossians 2:16,17). Abraham gave tithes to Melchisedec, king of Salem, but this was the spoils of war, not the legalistic tithe of the land which Moses commanded. Also, God did not command the tithe, Abraham chose to give it of his own free will (Genesis 14:17-23; Hebrews 7:1-10). The only other scriptural reference to tithing before Moses is Jacob. Again there is no command to tithe. In fact Jacob puts up numerous conditions to be met before he will pay the tithe to the Lord (Genesis 28:20-22). The biblical references which address the tithing issues are: Genesis 14:20; 28:22; Leviticus 27:30-32; Numbers 18:20-28; Deuteronomy 12:6,11,17; 14:22,23,28; 26:12; 2 Chronicles 31:5,6,12; Amos 4:4; Malachi 3:8-10; Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42; 18:12; Hebrews 7:5-9.1 Paul the apostle to the Gentiles for this present dispensation of Grace does not mention tithing but says a great deal about Christian giving. Romans 15:25,26; 1 Corinthians 9:7-14; 16:1-3; 2 Corinthians chapters 8 & 9; Galatians 6:6-10; Philippians 4:10-19; 1 Timothy 5:9-18. WHO is to give to the Lord's work? The Christian! He gives systematically, sacrificially, and joyfully. TO WHOM does he give? To Christ! FOR WHAT does he give? For the cause of Christ! NOT to a man or to a church, not for gain, but for the Gospel. By Kevin Yates Myth: Strength Training Will Bulk You Up This is a hot topic as the strength training controversy continues to be one of the biggest myths today. I want you to understand that strength training does not mean the same thing as bodybuilding. In fact, the level of commitment required by bodybuilders is unrealistic for most individuals. Here are some of the requirements that must be met in order to bulk-up: Many bodybuilders typically consume up to 5,000+ calories over the course of 6-8 meals every day to achieve the level of muscularity associated with bulking up. I guarantee that you do not even consume anywhere near this amount of food in a day.
The average person consumes not nearly enough to pack on pounds and pounds of muscle. Gaining muscle requires consuming more calories than your body requires to maintain your current body weight and activity level.
Gaining muscle involves extremely intense strength training utilizing heavy loads and pushing every set of an exercise to near maximum. Bodybuilders do not put on muscle by lifting light loads.
To develop the muscularity of a bodybuilder most individuals would need to strength train 4-6 days per week. Do you really have this kind time commitment? Most individuals could not physically be able to train at this level of intensity with this frequency and therefore will not gain the level of muscularity of a bodybuilder or bulk-up. You can gain some lean muscle without bulking up. Simply modify the level of muscularity you desire to fit your goal. Gaining muscle is not an automatically on-going thing nor is it easy to accomplish. Gaining a mere 5 pounds of muscle (which is not very noticeable unless you have a very petite physical structure) takes some hard work. For those who believe that they bulk-up easily almost as if they look at a dumbbell, consider that although it is possible to be genetically inclined to gain muscle more easily or in more quantity than others, you still must lift with heavier loads and at high intensity to put that muscle on. It has been my experience with most of these individuals that their ability to bulk-up has more to do with how much they are eating and their overall activity level that accounts for it not actual muscle gain. So, you can put this myth to rest. Myth: Long Slow-Paced Cardio Performed In Your Fat Burning Zone Is The Most Effective Way To Burn Fat This is such a source of frustration for many individuals because they are in the gym working hard and not receiving the results they want. If you are one of these individuals who I call cardioholics its time to change it up. The truth is that the typical cardioholics have the same common training pattern. They perform the same type of activity (mostly long, slow-paced cardio) during their workouts. You have probably noticed these individuals at your gym. You know who they are. They are always doing the same old routine every single workout. They hop on the treadmill and jog or the elliptical trainer or the stair stepper. Unfortunately, these individuals always look the same. Their bodies never change. Maybe you are one of these individuals. So, why does this happen? Myth: All Carbohydrates Make You Fat Make no mistake, this is another controversial topic that causes more confusion then most other weight loss topics. Lets look at the big picture for a minute. In order to gain weight one rule of human physiology must apply. That rule is that you must consume more calories than your body burns, period!
